• Happy Birthday James Beard! (1903) -- Celebrate James Beard, an American Classic, and Good Olde US of A with good strong robust American wines and good rich American food! Pair the awesome 2006 (96 points; if you can still find it) or 2008 Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon (96 points) with a grilled aged Angus beef and roasted vegetables.  Simple, clean and no extraordinary fuss – James Beard would be proud!  
   

• May 25th is National Wine Day (seriously!)  -- Host a wine tasting party!  Set rules or parameters to make the party interactive! Ask people to bring a favorite “Pinot Noir Surprise”and guest compare and score the Pinots?  Challenge folks in the “Battle of the Reds,” asking guests to bring a red wine from either Napa or Sonoma and rate the regions. “Celebrate the Grape”asking tasters to bring a wine featuring a particular grape in a blend.
